An as yet unknown manufacturer has launched at the Geneva Show

An as yet unknown manufacturer has launched at the Geneva Show

An as yet unknown manufacturer has launched at the Geneva Show

Qoros launched with one production and two concept cars. The brand is really an experiment to see if cars can be produced that will suit the Chinese market.
Firstly, the Chinese do not like Diesels, those much loved by leasing companies,  but do love European cars, so design and technical here will be targeted at just those parameters.
The designer, one Gerd Volker Hilderbrand, who has spent the last ten years working at BMW and headed up the design team of the  Mini. He has also designed the logo for the new company.
Qoros have headhunted other experienced people as well, including Volker Steinwascher who used to head VW in North America, he is the new vice president. The launch ready car is the Qoros 3, a Golf sized unit that is due to go on sale in October.   Following this, the concept cars give an insight into what’s to come as they aim to launch two cars a year.
VW have lead the way in the use of  modular platforms and Qoros will be no different, with the first three vehicles being based on the same base. Qoros intend including great spec with their cars, something that is expected in China unless a car is obviously a cheap car.
But who are Qoros?
Chery Automotive, a Chinese car manufacturer who build 500,000 cars a year and the investor Israel Corporation. They have existed since 2007 and have strategically planned the vehicle and company layout for six years.
The blend of the two companies gives access to huge markets. Being built in China with Chinese shareholding by the government will take away the quotas otherwise imposed on  manufacturers from outside China. The European design and technology means the European and US markets can be supplied to without changing the model, maybe just engines.  But initially, production will be nowhere near large enough to satisfy China, let alone Europe.
What this points at is a new way forward and something that all our manufacturers are  going to have to react to.   MG are already Chinese owned and I personally have visited their massively impressive production facility on the old Rover site.

Audi, our most popular German lease car, are trying to stay ahead of the game with upmarket music systems in all cars

Audi, our most popular German lease car, are trying to stay ahead of the game with upmarket music systems in all cars.
From the end of 2013, when the 2014 models begin to trickle through to us, Audi have stated that they will install DAB radio as standard in almost its entire range. Having used the same systemDAB radio in a VW Tiguan for two years I can confirm that it is great. Digital has enabled some local radio stations to go national, for example Smooth Radio and dedicated  digital sports channels, such as Radio Five Live from the BBC.  This means that certain products that are put out to the web will obviously be available on DAB so the volume of available channels  will grow as will the diversity of product. We already have stand alone news channels, along with traffic.
Audi will be partnering the tuning system with either their Bose or Bang & Olufsen premium systems, a spec which has already been fitted to the A8 range.
Additionally, Audi are offering the chance to retro-fit a DAB tuner to your existing system, already some dealers have done this with stock cars.

Starting with the Passat, a long term stalwart of VW with a fantastic chassis and huge inside, which will easily swallow a familyVolkswagen Passat Diesel Saloon and all their paraphernalia.  The Passat was face lifted in 2010 and the result was a superb car, it’s a  ready made  family car in saloon or estate guise and  personal car leasing is something that we specialise in.   It is though,  equally well suited to flying up and down the M6 motorway in the hands of a rep, for more information have a look at our business car leasing page. The 2.0 TDi is a strong, economical and reliable.
The VW Scirocco is an icon of sports cars. It drives really well and is based on the new Golf chassis which is technically superb.
Again powered by the 2.0 TDi diesel, the Scirocco in manual or DSG Auto will not disappoint. We know that our customers need their hands held through their car lease deal and what a car to end up with,we have created a car leasing guide and guide to carleasing companies.
Finally, the Tiguan. Regular visitors to our blog will know that we have one of these in our company cars. It has never done less than 40 mpg on any tank full, it was superb when it snowed  and carries a family, safely with easy. The DSG Auto is a great gearbox in any of the three cars, in the Tiguan it is particularly good. It is effectively a computer controlled manual box, without any of the inefficiencies of a normal auto box.

If as is expected, the EU introduces stricter CO2 standards, private and business car leasing will reduce in price

If as is expected, the EU introduces stricter CO2 standards, private and business car leasing will reduce in price

The EU have announced that CO2 emissions of cars must average 95g per km. In reality where a car achieves these figures, the fuel saving over the life of the car can be as high as 25%.  Personal Car Leasing will increase in payment per month marginally as the additional cost of production is absorbed into the deal,  the saving in fuel costs by our calculations will still mean an overall saving of 15% on a personal lease over its term. Inbusiness terms, it is common that business contract hire is taken to cover busy use and  higher  mileages leases,  here the savings will be more exaggerated. Once again here this will have a material effect on Benefit In Kind, hopefully a positive one.
Savings of £100 per month can be expected on fuel use alone and that assumes that fuel does not increase in price, which it will do.
In terms of Eco car leasing,Toyota Prius CarLease deal these new models will fall easily into the category  but in time will become normal as a new band of Eco develops which  has extremely low CO2 emissions.
This is not happening tomorrow, with manufacturers only being asked to achieve targets on or before 2020. But in fact some cars are already close to or in fact achieving the standard. The new Ford ECOnetic is well within thefiesta-ecoboost-carlease-uk required CO2 levels for 2020. Tomorrow, I will run a blog on the Fiesta ECOboost with a test drive posted on YouTube as well.
Amazingly, savings of more than 35m Euro is expected once the new rules are completely applied. Although it is the view of many that well before that point, it will be necessary to set new even more stringent CO2 targets.  We may though have no choice in the matter as the US has passed laws, laid down as an idea from the President himself, to target all US vehicle production to be at less than 93kg/km by 2025.
This report has been put together may a group including Nissan, the European Association of Automotive Suppliers and the European Climate Foundation. Its focus was mainly on engine improvements, but it recognises that many other changes will help in achieving the target, such as lighter cars and stop start systems. Way before the actual announcement,VW has declared itself committed to achieving the 95 g/km target and added that they intend to be the most environmentally sustainable car builder.
The China question.  Exactly where do China sit in all this. Demand is burgeoning in China and is being satisfied by average, cheap cars which will certainly not be anywhere near the new emission targets of the US or Europe.  As long as their own market continues to grow, this matters not a jot but by the time they decide, or need, to come to the American or European markets, they will need to be emissions competitive, by law.  In India, massively growing demand has led to cheap cars like the Tata but similarly,  what when they want to sell outside India.
Concerns have been raised by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association. They point out that and increase in price in the car will mean a customer simply cannot afford the car in the first place and will choose to buy a dirtier, used car.  But in leasing terms, where the cost saving  is more than the increase in price, the monthly cost is immediately lower and will cause a swing to personal leasing.

Happy Customers and Great Deals

Happy Customers and Great Deals

Happy Customers and Great Deals

Every now and then we get fantastic  thank you emails or letters from our customers.
We work hard to get our customers the lease deal that they want, most leasing companies will simply accept your enquiry on a vehicle and then guide you straight into that deal whereas in fact it may not actually be the best deal for you. Sometimes it needs a customers review about a car leasing company for you to find one you can trust.
Take for example IDC (Industrial Door  Company Ltd) of Salford.    Andy Green took an enquiry from them about an executive or sports saloon and told them about a deal that had just been announced by one of our funders which was particularly good value. The 330d M Sport that they now have was fantastic value that day and Kevin Murray from IDC wrote to say
“We would like to thank Carlease.uk.com for all your help with our order for a BMW 330d M Sport.BMW 330d M Sport from CarLease UK  The car is far beyond our expectations and the deal we have in place is exceptional value for money. The hassle free customer service provided by Andy, Christine and Nichola has been  fantastic and we will be looking forward to dealing with your company for all our further vehicle leasing.”   We are proud of our team of account managers and are confident that you will be happy with your service.   Our admin team has a new recruit.  Jodie has joined us this week and brings with her a huge experience in the leasing field.  Please feel free to contact us any time with your questions.

Volkswagen aim to blow away the opposition with 286 bhp Golf R

Volkswagen aim to blow away the opposition with 286 bhp Golf R

Volkswagen aim to blow away the opposition with 286 bhp Golf R

Hot hatches seem to be released in batches.  Someone puts their toe in the water and off  we go in a merry go round of tit for tat my engines bigger than yours.  Well, go back to 1990 and breaking 100bhp was impressive, but now we are pushing 300bhp, in a family hatchback.  That was Porsche 911 turbo power just a few years ago. Ford hit the market early with the Focus ST, Ford Focus ST at CarLease UK powered by a well developed 2.0 Ecotech engine, which drives through Ford’s Torque Vectoring drive system.  Sporting 250 bhp and an enormous 360nm torque from only 1750 rpm, this flying machine is also really relaxed to drive.

Vauxhall followedVauxhall Astra VXR  quickly with the highly rated Astra VXR.  Fantastic value and reputedly with superb build quality. 280bhp and 400nm of torque clear indicators of the tit for tat that goes on in this sectors marketing.
Renault, hot on the heels of Vauxhall relaunched the Megane, this time with 265bhp, lowered suspension, uprated brakes and a near endless list of changes from the outgoing model. This is probably the best drivers car of the bunch. This car does 0-60 mph in 6 seconds but can average 35 mpg and carry four people easily.
OK,  Volkswagen have not been able to compete head to head with this little lot, so if you wanted toVW Golf R at Carlease UK lease a really hot hatch, then you looked elsewhere, but images from test sites are beginning to get out of a fire breathing four wheel drive Golf R which is expected for launch in Europe at the end of the year. VW’s Fourmotion drive train is well sorted   and has been used with some large engines like the Toureg and the Audi Q7, so this should be just fine.   The Golf R si rumoured to be 286 bhp and 280 nm torque. The more complex drive train and the benefit of superb traction should lead to sub-5 second 0-60 mph time.    Where the Golf R wins is VW’s use of lightweight production techniques, the weight saving helping in all performance terms and of course economy.   Don’t expect availability until 2014 though.

Mercedes-Benz March deals that are simply too good to miss

Mercedes-Benz March deals that are simply too good to miss

Mercedes-Benz March deals that are simply too good to miss

Years of development and refinement of superb vehicles will always bring about a classic car that the market simply does not want to see be replaced.  That said, Mercedes-Benz are adamant that the new CLS is worth making the change for.   In the meantime, that leaves us with a lease deal at figures that would simply not be realistic just a couple of months ago.    CLS Mercedes Lease deal A new CLS 250 Cdi for less than £300 per month, yes really, and at that you don’t have to keep your new lease car of 10 years on the never never.  Oh no, this is just two years then off we go and choose your next one.

Just in case we run out of the CLS we have put together a couple of C Class deals at a monthly payment that would normally get you an Astra. Now then, spend ten minutes and decide,   Astra or C220 Cdi BlueEfficiency Exec SE.   Urmmmm, let me think.
Again, there is not limitless supply at these prices. Call us today and pick up the deal of the year whilst we still have stock.

We are completely blown away by press releases of the VW concept van

We are completely blown away by press releases of the VW concept van

We are completely blown away by press releases of the VW concept van

We are completely blown away by press releases of the VW concept van, which right now is being labelled  the eco motion.  Although its not unlikely that VW will take the eco motion label and apply it across a range of cars and vans rather than just the van itself. This van will be a big step forward for Eco Cars and Vans.
The van is a futuristic looking design and at this stage is only being shown in delivery van format with a some fabulous attributes. VW Eco Motion van at Launch With Bejing leading the way on emissions reductions, Europe has perhaps no option but dance to the Chinese pipers tune and it has re-ignited an interest in electric vehicles to supply the Government lead demand for electric vehicles in  China.
Shown at the Geneva show, the eco motions is laid out with the wheels close to the corners of the vehicle, great for manoeuvrability  and  stability. This is easier when electric motors are used to power a vehicle. Additionally, the latest battery packs mean that the cargo floor can be low and makes for easy loading.

VW, although releasing limited detail, have shown an electric motor with no gearbox, mounted on the rear wheels. With the front wheels wide and well forward, this makes the van easy to drive and park in a city.  Initial tests indicate a turning circle of less than 9 metres, a Vauxhall Vivaro for example has a turning circle of 12 metres.

The van is expected to quite light  for an electric vehicle and as a result is quite spritely with the 70bhp motor that VW are using . VW’s own steel panel plant is a leader in producing steel panels that are only a little bit heavier than aluminium , the technology being used first in the new Golf.  The motor has a maximum output of 115bhp.

The Eco Motion is undoubtedly designed for city use, but with a range of 60 miles to 120 miles depending on the battery size chosen, it can obviously  wander further afield, with a reduction in range but a very creditable maximum speed of 70 mph.

The payload of 800 kg will be ample for the intended market and the 4.6 cubic metre cargo volume is about average in the market.

With many plastics and use of composites in the cross members to carry the batteries, the longevity of this unit should be superb. The batteries will be some of the first to be able to be refurbished rather than recycled , this being one of the criticisms of electric vehicles.  When plugged in at base, the van will have a remote control to warm the interior using on board heaters.  As this is a problem in electric vehicles, they are normally better insulated than petrol or diesel equivalents to maintain the heat.   It is a van which looks like it will lend itself to a finance lease, where a customer can plan to have a vehicle long  term and take responsibility for servicing and repairs during the lease.

New Golf at CarLease UK
As leasing is the fastest growing funding method for acquiring a new car and you may want to know more but not know where to start, we have created a number of information pages so that anyone can get the answers they need 24 hours a day.
Private buyers are turning to leasing to tie down to a fixed cost their monthly bills and are sometimes including maintenance and tyres as part of their lease.  Remember that all our business lease and private leasedeals are brand new with full manufacturers warranty.   Although varying from manufacturer to manufacturer in the length of time offered, break down cover and road side assistance is also included.
From a budgeting point of view, this is superb, most drivers have to cost for tyres, your new car will have new tyres and you may only have to put one other set on in the term of your lease. You can cancel your AA membership for the period that it, or similar, is provided by the manufacturer.   Service intervals are getting longer and in some cases you are only going to have a couple of services in the term of your agreement.
Have a look at these pages, if you don’t find the answer to your specific question, email us at enquiries@carlease.uk.com  and we will come straight back to you with an answer.

Hyundai and Kia – The Beast from the East

Fresh from a successful outing at the Geneva Motor Show, Hyundai and Kia are now beginning to make serious in roads with their European campaign, as the BBC reports today.

CarLease UK have always been true fans of the Kia and Hyundai product; both manufacturer’s have always formed an important part of our car leasing options, particularly with high mileage leasing where the vehicles benefit from positive residual value support.

With both Hyundai and Kia increasing sales across Europe, market share continues to rise (3.5% and 2.7% respectively) which must be now coming to the attention of European car markers. Both Hyundai and Kia also appear to be in an enviable position, in that factory production is running at 100% and currently demand is outstripping supply. Contrast this with some of the European car manufacturers who are unable to create demand for their vehicles across Europe and currently face an over-supply situation, as well as continued group action and strikes.

While Hyundai and Kia have certainly made some fantastic developments, their next step is to produce desirable and forward thinking product which brings about the emotional purchase as opposed to the practical/cost-efficient purchase. Already Kia are starting to achieve this, launching the new Kia Pro C’eed GT, as a high quality competitor to the VW Golf and Audi A3 customer. With the Sportage having already won various accolades in 2012, Kia are well placed to continue growth. It will therefore be interesting to see what Hyundai launch to maintain growth alongside its sister company.

Kia Cee’d Car Leasing

Although Hyundai and Kia are not UK or European based companies, their continued success does bring about employment opportunities, as well as other income such as tax, to our economies. As the motor industry is set to face a difficult 2013 and 2014, the European manufacturers will have to find a way to keep going against the obvious pressures.
