CarLease UK Video Blog|VW Passat BlueMotion Tech|Car Leasing Deal

Carlease UK release three fantastic VW lease deals for April delivery

In a fantastic joint venture between VW and Carlease UK, we have brought to the market three fantastic Volkswagen deals.  VW Passat Saloon and Estate 2.0 TDi BluemotionTech Highline manual and  DSG auto,   VW Scirocco TDi Bluemotion Tech R Linemanual and DSG Auto plus the VW Tiguan  2.0 TDi Bluemotion Tech R Line manual and Auto. Passat Youtube video
Starting with the Passat, a long term stalwart of VW with a fantastic chassis and huge inside, which will easily swallow a familyVolkswagen Passat Diesel Saloon and all their paraphernalia.  The Passat was face lifted in 2010 and the result was a superb car, it’s a  ready made  family car in saloon or estate guise and  personal car leasing is something that we specialise in.   It is though,  equally well suited to flying up and down the M6 motorway in the hands of a rep, for more information have a look at our business car leasing page. The 2.0 TDi is a strong, economical and reliable.
The VW Scirocco is an icon of sports cars. It drives really well and is based on the new Golf chassis which is technically superb.
Again powered by the 2.0 TDi diesel, the Scirocco in manual or DSG Auto will not disappoint. We know that our customers need their hands held through their car lease deal and what a car to end up with,we have created a car leasing guide and guide to carleasing companies.
Finally, the Tiguan. Regular visitors to our blog will know that we have one of these in our company cars. It has never done less than 40 mpg on any tank full, it was superb when it snowed  and carries a family, safely with easy. The DSG Auto is a great gearbox in any of the three cars, in the Tiguan it is particularly good. It is effectively a computer controlled manual box, without any of the inefficiencies of a normal auto box.

Hyundai and Kia – The Beast from the East

Fresh from a successful outing at the Geneva Motor Show, Hyundai and Kia are now beginning to make serious in roads with their European campaign, as the BBC reports today.

CarLease UK have always been true fans of the Kia and Hyundai product; both manufacturer’s have always formed an important part of our car leasing options, particularly with high mileage leasing where the vehicles benefit from positive residual value support.

With both Hyundai and Kia increasing sales across Europe, market share continues to rise (3.5% and 2.7% respectively) which must be now coming to the attention of European car markers. Both Hyundai and Kia also appear to be in an enviable position, in that factory production is running at 100% and currently demand is outstripping supply. Contrast this with some of the European car manufacturers who are unable to create demand for their vehicles across Europe and currently face an over-supply situation, as well as continued group action and strikes.

While Hyundai and Kia have certainly made some fantastic developments, their next step is to produce desirable and forward thinking product which brings about the emotional purchase as opposed to the practical/cost-efficient purchase. Already Kia are starting to achieve this, launching the new Kia Pro C’eed GT, as a high quality competitor to the VW Golf and Audi A3 customer. With the Sportage having already won various accolades in 2012, Kia are well placed to continue growth. It will therefore be interesting to see what Hyundai launch to maintain growth alongside its sister company.

Kia Cee’d Car Leasing

Although Hyundai and Kia are not UK or European based companies, their continued success does bring about employment opportunities, as well as other income such as tax, to our economies. As the motor industry is set to face a difficult 2013 and 2014, the European manufacturers will have to find a way to keep going against the obvious pressures.

It’s not just about the size of your boot

Many of the lease cars that leasing companies supply are estate cars.  But they are not all the same, boring, rep-mobile built for mile crunching runs up and down the country from Manchester to London then to Liverpool, oh you get the picture.
As cars have evolved, engineers have reduced the amount of space that rear suspension takes out of your boot.  This means that some medium sized estates now have the boot space of some older large estates.
Boot space is measured in litres and of course is the total volume, which is not necessarily usable   But, if you think of a large suitcase as 100 litres and a set of golf clubs as 100 litres, you can perhaps more relate to the volume.

The 3 Series BMW at £252 per month, has 495 litres on offer before you fold the rear seats, this grows to 1500 litres, BMW 3 series at Carlease UK enough for a dozen suitcases.  It is in our opinion, and the business car users, the best company car available right now.

Out soon is the Volvo V60 plug-in Hybrid.  You know by now that we love our eco-cars and this is no exception.  All we know is that it is a diesel and electric motor so expect great economy figures and some really good benefit in kind figures.  The boot is a bit smaller than that of the BMW,

Next up, two absolute barnstormers:  The Jaguar XF SportbrakeJaguar XF Sportbrake,from £371 per month, weighing in with a meaty 1700 litres of boot space and the Mazda 6 Estate at 1680 litres.

There is obviously more to choosing your next lease car than its boot size, but these are some of the best. If you would like me to cover another area or type, let me know and I will get my info together.

US Tyre Giant Stepping on French Work Ethics

The USA appears again to be facing the wrath of the European Automotive industry. Already less than popular, after the closure of Ford’s Belgian production plant, comments from Maurice Taylor, CEO of the US tyre manufacturer Titan, seem to continue to ignite frustrations towards the US way of handling delicate situations.

Maurice Taylor | CEO Titan Tyres | CarLease UK Blog

Due to financial constraints and cutbacks, Ford had to undergo a closure of the production plant in Belgium, moving production elsewhere. Unhappy Belgian workers are continuing to challenge this decision, as production of the Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy are moved elsewhere. Talks between the workers, unions, Government and Ford are still ongoing.

Amidst this, Maurice Taylor seems to have caused added frustrations with the French contingen of Titan’s tyre production. According to reports at the BBC, Mr Taylor was unhappy with the working style of the French, in particular Mr Taylor contended that the workers received a disproportionate level of remuneration in comparison to the hours worked. France currently adopts of a 35-hour working week, which critics, like Mr Taylor, believe if affecting the economic development of the country.

In response to this, both workers and unions have been very critical of Mr Taylor’s response and communication between the parties seems to be ongoing as a conclusion to this matter is reached.

It is no secret that the automotive market in Europe is not at its best. Citroen Peugeot recently announced huge losses and with the contraction of the German economy, pressure continues to build. At CarLease UK we do hope that an adequate resolution can be reached and that no drastic measures are taken, as investment needs to continue in Europe to avoid any further stifling. The success of the automotive industry in Europe is clearly intertwined with our car leasing offering, so the team at CarLease UK do hope these continuing problems are rectified.

The Association of British Insurers is saying that the age group of 17 to 24 are responsible for the largest amount of crashes per road user in their group. The plans to reduce these numbers of accidents are described as ‘radical action’ and are an attempt to introduce a series of restrictions on young drivers to help prevent crashes.

ABI director general Otto Thoresen said, "A car is potentially a lethal weapon, and we must do more to help young drivers better deal with the dangers of driving. Improving the safety of young drivers will also mean that they will face lower motor insurance costs.”

The proposed plans follow a similar set proposed to go into place in Northern Ireland, and they include a series of restrictions on young road users.

The most striking reforms that they want to put into place are:
  • A ban on learners being able to take an intensive driving course as their sole way of passing the test
  • The introduction of a new licence for the first six months after passing a test called graduated, (like an enforced version of the ‘P’ passed plates)
  • A limit on the number of young passengers in a car with a driver classed as “graduated”
  • A curfew on these drivers between 11:00pm and 4:00am, unless they were driving to and from work or college
  • A zero tolerance on blood alcohol for these “graduated” drivers
  • Young drivers would be able to start learning earlier, at the age of 16 and a half so that a lower limit of a years driving before passing the test seems more reasonable
The ABI backed these ideas up with a number of statistics, that newly passed drivers were the riskiest on the road and that this was only made worse by the presence of passengers.
The issue that seems to come from this though, is that the curfews on young drivers and such imposed limits seem to be a little heavy handed a way of dealing with the issue. With a proposal to massively increase the amount of time before the drivers are allowed to take the test, it would suggest that if this wasn't enough then maybe the issue came from the way in which the drivers were tested. Does a short 1 hour session on carefully scrutinised driving technique give a good representation of a driver’s ability and reliability? Of course it doesn't. How could it, when it does not reflect the standard conditions for driving at all.
While I can agree that the increase in time learning to drive could certainly be of some benefit, it is a high cost to actually put in the extra hours to practice and get extra lessons that not everyone could get through even if they were very competent drivers. As for the limits on the people that have already passed. The need for this simply shines a light on the inadequacies of the system for testing that is already in place. Maybe before we start punishing the majority of young drivers who haven’t caused any issues on the road it would be better to find the issue that exists in the system that is already in place.
Car Lease UK have today launched a number of incredible car leasing deals on the Volkswagen Passat range, including the 1.6 and 2.0 Diesel Saloon and Estate Variants (a mixture of manuals and DSG’s are available). With nearly 100 vehicles in stock, ready for immediate delivery, any customer will be blessed with fantastic choice, at an incredible value.

The VW Passat is perhaps the flagship car within the genre - the self confessed "Dynamic Innovation" by Volkswagen themselves. The team at Car Lease UK have found, from customer input, that the Volkswagen Passat is a slightly better option than your Vauxhall Insignia and Ford Mondeo but most cost-effective than your BMW 3 Series or Audi A4. Often the desired choice for the company car user with a healthy, but considered budget, the VW Passat offers finesses, practicality and, above all, quality. That being said, as a car lease company which pushes healthily competitive car leasing deals, we supply whatever vehicle, whether personal contract hire or business contract hire, our customer wants.

What you need to know on the Volkswagen Passat Diesel Saloon 1.6 TDI BMT SE:

The 1.6 TDI SE is perhaps one of the most popular and best-loved vehicles within the range. Known for its value and its frugal but respected engine, the SE presents the driver with a good deal of standard specification. Remember, don't just take our word for it, please feel free to look at other independent reviews for example the Whatcar? review on the  Volkswagen Passat Diesel Saloon 1.6 TDI BMT SE

MPG = 65.7
CO2 = 114g/km
Key Specification = DAB Radio, 17” Alloy Wheels, Ipod Connection, Electric Seats,
Price = 3 year car lease deal from £230.25 plus Vat per month and a 4 year car lease deal from £213.96 plus Vat per month

What you need to know on the Volkswagen Passat Diesel Estate 2.0 TDI BMT SE:

If you have a little more of a budget and you want a more powerful diesel option, perhaps even one with a little more room, take a look at the 2.0 Diesel version of the VW Passat SE. The 2.0 diesel is the best engine to go for in terms of overall consumption, capacity and power. In terms of the car, this is a really strong contender in the estate class, with very few criticisms being affixed to the vehicle and possessing a good standard of specification. Again, don't just take our word, check out the Whatcar? review on the Volkswagen Passat Diesel Estate 2.0 TDI BMT SE - the review gives the car a 5 out of 5 stars!

MPG = 61.4
CO2 = 120g/km
